ATTENTION PILOTS! WIN
$10,000
Do you pride yourself on your landing prowess? Well aviators, here’s your opportunity to win
bragging rights and a check for 10 grand! No catch and no obligation – One pilot in one airplane that can
land closer to the target line then any other, will win $10,000.
GFK Flight Support of Grand
Forks, North Dakota, is proud to announce that on Saturday, July 28, 2012, GFK Flight Support, in conjunction
with co-sponsors Grand Forks Airport Authority, World Fuel, and Acme Tools, will host a precision landing
competition for any certified pilot (Sport certificate or higher) that qualifies to compete. Registration is
free.
To summarize competition rules - A “target” line will be
marked on the runway a safe distance from the runway end and foul lines will be marked 50 feet prior and 50
feet after the target line. Each competing pilot will be allowed only one approach and landing. Landings before
the first foul line or beyond the second foul line will not be measured and will result in disqualification.
Competition will not be held if the visibility is less than 2 miles and/or the ceiling is less than 1,500
feet.
The landing contest will take place at the Grand Forks International Airport
(KGFK) and will begin at approximately 8:00 am. Briefings will be ongoing throughout the day. There will
be a pancake breakfast and lunch on the grill.
If you want to use our airplane we will be renting it for a
flat $40 for an attempt. No check out required, contact us for more information. If you
use any other airplane, you will compete for FREE!
GFK Flight Support (2403 Air Cargo Dr.) will be event headquarters and can
be contacted at 701-772-5504.
